The court was alive with energy. Every move, every play, every second led to this moment. Then, the final whistle cut through the noise. In an instant, cheers erupted, and history was made. Camalig National High School’s futsal team had done it. Their journey, built on discipline, teamwork, and relentless determination, now shines like gold as they emerged as the Palarong Panlalawigan 2025 champions.
From the very first match, Camalig NHS set the tone for the tournament. Held from February 11 to 14, the competition saw them overpower San Lorenzo Academy with a 6-1 victory, dismantle Santo Domingo National High School with 6-0, and completely shut out Pio Duran with a 13-0 win. Every game was a statement of their preparation, skill, and hunger for victory.
Leading the team was captain April Joyce N. Nacario, whose leadership and decisive plays fueled their dominance. But this victory wasn’t built on one player alone. Every goal, every defensive stop, and every strategic pass was a result of teamwork. On the sidelines, Coach Juan Carlo Natuel guided them with a clear vision, ensuring they played with precision and confidence.
The final match tested their resilience. Their opponents fought back, refusing to go down without a fight. But Camalig NHS stayed composed, executing their plays flawlessly. They moved as one, proving that their strength was in their unity. When the final second ticked away, there was no doubt. They had secured the gold.
This championship is more than just a title. It is a legacy that will be remembered, a triumph that cements their place among the best. Camalig NHS has proven that with hard work, discipline, and the heart of true champions, success is inevitable. Their journey was not just played, it was engraved in victory.
Albay Young Farmers Kick Off 2025 Initiative to Inspire Youth in Agriculture
by Gian Carlo N. Tatil
Camalig, Albay – March 19, 2025 – The Albay Young Farmers Inc. (AYFO) officially launched its 2025 program, marking a significant step in engaging the youth in agriculture. The event, held at Camalig National High School, featured the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with key government agencies and organizations, reinforcing a shared commitment to promoting sustainable farming practices among young Filipinos.
One of the program’s flagship initiatives, the "Albay Young Foodscapers Program," will introduce agriculture-focused training to schools across the province. With a strong emphasis on food security, agribusiness, and sustainability, the initiative aims to reshape the perception of farming and encourage students—especially senior high school learners—to consider careers in agriculture.
The program also includes a school gardening competition in June, promoting hands-on agricultural learning. AYFO Executive Director Joshua Carl Barcelon underscored the importance of addressing misconceptions about farming, emphasizing that agriculture is a vital profession that sustains the nation. Cheryll Rebata, Provincial Agriculturist, also stressed the need for food self-sufficiency, urging young people to embrace farming as a means of strengthening the local economy and reducing reliance on imports.
Looking ahead, AYFO plans to expand its initiatives nationwide and strengthen its partnerships with various organizations, including Technical Education and Skills Development (TESDA), the Department of Agriculture (DA), and local government units (LGU). The group is also preparing for its National Summit in October, which will serve as a platform for young farmers and industry experts to exchange ideas and innovations.
To further support aspiring young farmers, the AYFO will offer capital grants and business training for youth aged 18-30 to help them develop sustainable agricultural enterprises.
“Successful future belongs to those who prepare for it today.”
Aspiration for success in life is not achieved by chance or by coincidence but by one’s enormous effort coupled with great perseverance and strong determination.
Our dreams for triumph ahead remain intangible if it is not translated into reality. One most indispensable instrument that can be used to achieve our goals and visions in life is EDUCATION, for it develops our intellect to acquire essential knowledge, enhances our special skills and shapes our moral attitude. EDUCATION TRULY BRINGS FULFILLMENT IN LIFE.
“The function of education is to teach one to think critically. Intelligence plus character-that is the goal of true education”. – Martin Luther King
When you develop critical thinking, you no longer take things for granted. You start questioning why things are the way they are. You learn about people who saw something wrong and had the courage to do things differently in their personal lives or lead a nation to a dynamic transformation. Yes, you need courage and determination, but when you get an education, you start realizing you can make a difference too.
